The first-ever UN Food Systems Summit will be an opportunity for over 90 heads of state and government to present and reiterate their commitments to working towards achieving all 17 Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. This fully virtual event will take place during the UN General Assembly, following a Pre-Summit hybrid event that took place in in Rome, Italy from July 26-28 in partnership with the Government of Italy. The UN Food Systems Summit will take the Pre-Summit’s goals of establishing new objectives and solutions through global discourse, while fostering a sense of community in working together towards a commonly shared vision.

UN Food Systems Summit 2021 Campaign
Much of the UN Food Systems' focus over the last 18 months was to drive recovery from the pandemic and resume the progress that was being made concerning the SDGs. Led by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, “The People's Summit” has brought together not only the UN Member States but thousands of youth, Indigenous Peoples, civil society, researchers, food producers, and private sector members to emphasize that it takes the collective efforts of everyone, everywhere to be able to transform the methods in which the world creates, consumes, and approaches food in general.
Building off of what was discussed and achieved during the Pre-Summit in Rome, the UN continues to honors its pledge of human rights and inclusivity for all by extending an invitation to everyone, everywhere to participate virtually. Registration is a breeze, and is open to anyone via the UN Food Summit’s registration platform on their website. Those who participated in the virtual Pre-Summit do not need to register again for the Summit. Passionate persons can also join this global movement and receive updates and tips on how to help take action by signing up and completing a simple form to be a #FoodSystemsHero.
